Implications of China's Social Credit System for Businesses
The Chinese "Social Credit System" is currently implementing. Initially inspired by credit rating systems in Europe and the U.S., the scope of China's Social Credit System is much broader and includes compliance with social, environmental, and political regulations and targets. This talk will address the vision and goals behind the system, the present state of implementation, and what we can expect looking forward.
About the Speaker:
Dr. Mareike Ohlberg | Research associate at the Mercator Institute for China Studies (MERICS)
Mareike Ohlberg is a research associate at the Mercator Institute for China Studies (MERICS) focusing on current trends in public policy, media, and society. She has a PhD in Chinese Studies from the University of Heidelberg and an MA from Columbia University. Prior to joining MERICS, Ohlberg spent a year as an An Wang Postdoctoral Fellow at the Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies at Harvard University and another year as a postdoctoral researcher at the Cheng Shewo Institute for Chinese Journalism at Shih Hsin University in Taipei.
