China has around 400 million millennials, five times more than the 80 million in the U.S. born between 1982 and 1998 (now ages 20-36). Yet, when the world talks about China, the focus is on the past: old stereotypes, old politics, old traditions and the older generations. A young generation is coming of age in China that has already begun to lead the nation's powerful economic and political future.

Zak will discuss his book, Young China: How the Restless Generation Will Change Their Country and the World (St. Martin's Press), as well as latest research on what makes Chinese millennials unique from their American and global counterparts. Through research, interviews, and personal encounters on how young Chinese feel about everything from money and sex, to their government, the West, and China's shifting role in the world -- not to mention their love affair with food, karaoke, and travel, he'll chart the touchstone issues the young generation faces.
