Down syndrome is a disease that delays physical growth and affects the intellectual ability of people with it to varying degrees. In China, a baby is born with Down syndrome every 20 minutes.
What are some effective ways to alleviate the disease so that people who have it are able to lead fulfilling lives?
Join us this Friday, June 29, as we invite Zhen Su, chairman of YBC Healthcare to discuss the "Sweet Angels" campaign, which aims to increase public awareness in China of Down syndrome, and early rehabilitation for people with the disease.
Rehabilitation for people with Down syndrome has been proven to be effective in the first six years of a child's life. After a six-month intensive training course, which includes physical exercise and speech therapy, children have been shown to make significant progress in cognition and speech and also have improved motor skills. Helping to develop these abilities at such an early age can help the children integrate into society in the future. However, sometimes parents of children with Down syndrome do not have the money to afford the classes or an understanding of rehabilitation therapy.
The "Sweet Angels" campaign aims to increase public awareness of Down syndrome through a series of nationwide online and offline interactive activities, collaboration with key opinion leaders and engagement on social media platforms. The purpose is to help children with the disease be accepted by the community and help families to re-establish their confidence. At the same time, the campaign is raising funds to provide financial assistance for children to receive rehabilitation treatment.
Fresh Start warmly welcomes all to attend, listen and ask questions.
