Event Summary

In rural Tibetan communities, women are responsible for collecting water. This water is sometimes two to six hours away by foot. The need to fetch water every other day keeps young girls away from school, they grow up uneducated, and the community remains in poverty. Access to water is a major issue for the Tibetan communities and a priority for Ganglha.

Join us this Friday, May 18, as we invite Nyangchak, founder of Ganglha, as he speaks on his philanthropic and entrepreneurial journey in the Tibetan areas of Qinghai and his recent social impact project. He will detail his recent community tree-planting venture and explore possibilities for future collaborations in Qinghai Province.

Nyangchak's social enterprise, Ganglha, is a non-religious and non-political group that is devoted to providing cultural and sustainable development for the Tibetan areas of Qinghai Province.

Ganglha focuses on empowering local Tibetans with social enterprise incubation, and preserving their cultural heritage through the development of ecocultural travel and cultural communication. The proceeds from their enterprises are used to fund non-profit programs that focus on education, water and sanitation, environmental protection and cultural preservation for the communities.

Fresh Start warmly welcomes all to attend, listen, and ask questions.
