Exercise has potential to bring people together, but how did a group of friends build a free worldwide fitness community of over 4,000 people who arise at dawn for hour-long workouts?
What challenges did they face when starting? How do they sustain themselves and what is it that keeps people returning?
Join us this Friday, May 11, as we invite Vy Vu and Olivia Plotnick, community managers of FitFam, to discuss how the community startedandhow they have worked together with a team of volunteers to build a movement, the challenges they faced and their long-term goals.
Originally started in Shanghai by a group of friends who just wanted to workout together during a cold winter, FitFam is a free fitness community that believes fitness should be available to all, regardless of one's social position or actual location.
People come to sweat and through this they connect. Their community is one of students, interns, teachers, entrepreneurs, and high-level executives; they come from all walks of life and are at different stages in their careers. They are singles, mothers, fathers and grandparents from around the world.
The founders of FitFam and their volunteers regard fitness as an integral and fundamental need for long-term health and hold that it should be accessible to everyone regardless of background or status.
FitFam's mission is to empower people to achieve a core level of fitness and to lead a healthy lifestyle by providing free, high-quality, volunteer-led workouts. They will discuss how they can sustain these workouts and their future goals this Friday morning.
Fresh Start warmly welcomes all to attend, listen and ask questions.
