While bear bile, ivory tusks, rhino horns, and animal-fur clothing might not be popular items at the supermarket, their trade can be lucrative and their prices are cruel.
Join us this Friday, May 4, as Pei Su, founder and executive director of ACTAsia, discusses her 20-plus years of experience promoting the protection of animals and nature.
Pei has been an undercover investigator and researched topics from the cruelty of animal products (like those mentioned above) in many Asian countries, to the mass scale of factory farming for the use of animal fur in fashion.
Her organization, ACTAsia, has recently shifted its focus to promoting "Caring for Life" education to young children, teachers, parents and professionals in order to raise awareness and promote compassion for humanity, animals and the environment
ACTAsia has been working with schools throughout China since 2012 with the "Caring for Life" program, which was developed with the help of education and welfare experts and runs as part of a school's yearly curriculum.
Pei's organization uses three ways to reach their audience and spread their vision of a more compassionate and humane future. The first is teaching the youth in order to plant the seed for the future; the second is raising public awareness of animal cruelty through events like fur-free fashion shows; and the third is educating professionals on issues and concepts such as animal rights.

Fresh Start warmly welcomes all to attend, listen, and ask questions.
