Poverty is not only the lack of money; it is the lack of choices and opportunity—as defined by the United Nations.
On Dec. 2, in order to illustrate the issue, people from diverse backgrounds convened for a microfunding event in Shanghai to identify solutions for urban poverty.
Can an event on poverty make a difference? Can people with different upbringings collaborate to combat and ultimately eradicate poverty? And what happens now, after the event?
Join us this Friday at Fresh Start on Dec. 15, as we invite Maria de Azevedo Brito, founder of Bไบบbel to discuss her recent event held to brainstorm solutions for and present poverty.
The event, called the Pyramid Impact Collective, focused on tackling urban poverty and a number of subtopics including: migrant workers, gender and civil society development, and basic education. In addition to showcasing urban poverty through art and discussion with working professionals, participants presented different projects all aimed at combatting urban poverty.
Zheng Xiaosan (Sam), the creator of the Shanghai International Deaf Film Festival, was selected by the audience to receive the complete proceedings of the event. His project will be the first deaf-led film and arts festival in Mainland China, will debut in September next year.
Fresh Start warmly welcomes all to attend, listen and ask questions.
