A native of Washington, D.C., Robyn grew up listening to her father's recordings of Israeli and Yiddish songs. She and her sister, Cantor Rochelle Helzner, began performing Jewish music together when Robyn was only eight years old. A graduate of Northwestern University's Theater Department, Robyn worked as an actor with the Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble and toured Poland as a member of the Northwestern Mime Company. Her magnetic presence lights up a stage. Robyn blends song, story, and lively audience participation to reveal the essence of each song and make them accessible to today's audiences.
