Event Summary

Did you know traffic accidents are the leading cause of death for children in this country? Approximately 18,500 children die in traffic accidents in China each year—more than 50 kids each day! The highest proportion of child traffic deaths are auto passengers, and up to 80% of these deaths could be prevented if the child was properly secured in a child safety seat. Unfortunately, the usage rate of child safety seats in China is less than 1%, compared to more than 95% in Western Europe.

Want to make a difference and help save the lives of thousands of children? We welcome all who care about the next generation of China to join us on Friday, October 13th, as James Feldkamp, CEO and Co-founder of MingJian, teaches us about the Save Kids Lives project and how to be a part of keeping kids safe across China.

The Fresh Start Rotary Club of Shanghai together with the independent China consumer organization MingJian launched the Save Kids Lives campaign in 2015 to provide free public education and training on the importance and proper usage of child safety seats to reduce the rate of child road injuries and deaths in China. In the fall of 2015, Save Kids Lives public events were held in Shanghai and Nanjing and were attended by more than 30,000 families.

In 2017, Save Kids Lives became a district project with 5 Rotary Clubs from across China joining together for a global grant to provide child safety seat training for maternity hospitals so the doctors and nurses can provide early education to new mothers about child safety seats and help to ensure that newborns leave the hospital safely secured in one.

Join us on Friday and learn how you can help with this wonderful initiative and Save Kids Lives in China.
All are warmly welcomed.
