You will be briefed about the latest changes in the HR / employment area, as well as expected further developments for 2017. The focus topic will be the termination of employment contracts and other legal aspects during the restructuring of companies (share and asset deals, merger, downsizing, relocation, liquidation), including several case studies. Furthermore, we will talk about hiring considerations in small and medium size enterprises (SME). Such as understanding the concerns of candidates about a job within a SME or how to motive candidates to join SMEs. The speaker will brief about the latest changes in the HR / employment area, as well as expected further developments expected for 2017. Focus topic will be the termination of employment contracts and other legal aspects during the restructuring of companies (share and asset deals, merger, downsizing, relocation, liquidation), including several case studies.

Rechtsanwalt / Partner at Taylor Wessing Shanghai Representative OfficeRalph advises German and international companies related to their business transactions in China. This includes in particular corporate aspects of foreign direct investment, M&A (share and asset deal acquisitions, mergers of foreign invested enterprises, equity transfers), restructuring and liquidation.
Ralph heads the employment and pension practice of the China Group and is co-author of a publication on Chinese labor and social insurance law of a German industry association.
His special industry focus is the chemical sector (chemical related laws and investments).
In 2010, he was elected as member to the board of the German School in Shanghai, and served as its chairman from 2012 until July 2017. Since 2011 he is a lecturer on Chinese employment law and international mobility aspects at St. Gallen University’s Executive M.B.L.-HSG module “Law and Business in China” held annually at Shanghai’s Fudan University. Ralph is a founding member and currently serves on the board of SP China Alumni e.V., an association established in 2017 promoting a DAAD German-Chinese post-graduate scholarship program.
