The German Chamber of Commerce in China, Shanghai and AmCham Shanghai’s Supply Chain/Manufacturers’ Business Council/Environmental Committees are pleased to invite you to a joint event to discuss the impact of new Ministry of Environmental Protection’s regulations on factory closures and the implications for manufacturing and the supply chain on Monday, September 18 from 16:30-18:00 at the AmCham Shanghai Conference Room.
Since June of 2017, China’s Ministry of Environment started taking a hard stance against factories that are “heavy polluters.” In the most recent round of factory audits, the authorities have shut down tens of thousands of factories with no end in sight. The closures have also affected foreign-invested factories.
The environmental audits began in certain regions of northern China but have now been extended to eastern China. Affected industries include textiles, chemicals, plastics, coating, Carbon etc.
For this program, we will hear from supply chain practitioners, consultants and legal experts including Daniel Krassenstein, Director Asia Operations of Procon Pacific, LLC, Gary Huang, Founder of 80/20 Sourcing and Peter Corne, Managing Partner of Shanghai, Dorsey & Whitney LLP who will share with us their knowledge and experience in dealing with these challenges.
The following topics will be covered:
- What are the latest Ministry of Environmental Protection regulations - What measures should be taken to minimize disruption to the supply chain - Best practices, including short-term solutions to address this challenge - Strategic insights on how to deal with China’s regulatory enforcement
