In this week’s address, Head of School Malcolm McKenzie stresses the importance of fostering a culture of inclusivity at Keystone. In the last two weeks, Keystone students from Grades 4-12 have gone on their annual autumn camping trips. Organized by Keystone’s Coordinator for Experiential Learning, Chris Cartwright, these trips foster transferrable skills students can utilize during their academic and life journeys. On September 7th-8th, four Keystone students participated in an interschool jazz dance and workshop hosted by the Western Academy of Beijing. Sonic Miyang (G8), Eric Junrong (G9), Kate Jiahui (G10) and Jenny Jingyi (G8) participated in “WAB to the Max Jazz” workshop led by professional Jazz practitioners with 35 students from 5 different schools. Jenny Jingyi (G8) was the first Keystone student to participate in the Dance concert during the festival. Congratulations, students!  

9月7日和8日，4名鼎石学生参加了由京西国际学校组织的校际爵士舞工作坊。8年级的刘米扬和姜静宜、9年级的朱俊荣、10年级的雷佳慧参加了“WAB to Max Jazz”工作坊。本工作坊由职业爵士舞表演家指导，来自5所学校的35名学生舞者参加了工作坊。8年级的姜静宜是第一名在工作坊期间与学生爵士乐演奏者同台演出的鼎石学生。祝贺学生们！

上周末，鼎石学生参加了Tiger Run Classic越野跑比赛。初中部和高中部学生与来自顺义国际学校和京西国际学校的学生同场竞技。鼎石初中部参赛选手力压顺义国际学校和京西国际学校的选手，包揽男女两个组别的前三名。鼎石高中部选手分获第3名、第8名、第13名和第18名。祝贺学生们！

On September 10th, students from primary and secondary school donated beautifully arranged packages of produce for all faculty and staff in honor of World Teacher’s Appreciation Day. Thank you, students!

John Steinbeck’s novel Of Mice and Men explores family tragedies and the fragility of friendship during the Great Depression in the United States. 

人鼠之间（Of Mice And Men）是美国作家 约翰·斯坦贝克的作品。这部小说探索了美国大萧条时期家庭悲剧以及友情的脆弱。

On September 20th at 7pm in our Performing Arts Centre, Keystone Academy presents Pipa, Puppets, Preservation: Wu Man and the Huayin Shadow Puppet Band. Celebrating China’s vibrant musical heritage, Wu Man and the Huayin Shadow Puppet Band will perform an array of traditional Chinese music combined with classical pipa music, unearthing a unique blend of tunes for the audience to enjoy. Pipa players will from the Yun Yin Orchestra will also perform with WuMan, showcasing what they have learned from their workshop with the artist. All tickets are 300RMB. To RSVP, please click here.

On September 27th from 6:30-8:00pm in the Multi-Purpose Hall, Keystone’s Education Salon will welcome Naturalist and Science Writer Zhang Chenliang. Deeply interested in the evolution of the natural world, Mr. Chenliang will introduce his book The Note on the Catalogue of Marine Creatures (2016). We look forward to having you join us for this meaningful discussion, as Mr. Chenliang shares his passion for the natural world with the audience, and masterfully recounts his own personal narrative. On Friday September 21st at 3:40pm, Keystone’s Performing Arts Centre invites local artist Jia Yuan Hua to present his work celebrating traditional and contemporary Chinese art. On September 20th from 10:00am-3:00pm, Keystone Academy is once again collaborating with Roundabout for the annual Charity Book Fair! This a great opportunity to pick up gently used books while supporting children in need. Please remember to bring your own bag to carry all of your books home!

On September 21st, 26th, and 27th, award-winning children’s author and parenting expert Julia Cook will visit Keystone! Mrs. Cook writes children’s books that celebrate humor while teaching children how to be better problem solvers and develop healthy relationships. On September 26th from 3:00-6:00pm in the East Lecture Hall, Mrs. Cook will hold an information session for parents interested in helping their children foster healthy relationships with technology in the modern world. On September 26th from 6:00-7:00pm, the secondary school will hold its first Parent Education evening of the 2018-2019 academic year. This event for parents explores Keystone beyond the academic curriculum, and endeavors to educate parents on the different types of learning that take place in our community.
