On May 28, the PTA held their annual general meeting in the West Lecture Hall. As part of this meeting, PTA representatives conducted an annual review, provided a financial summary, discussed a plan for the Spring Gala fundraiser, and discussed the blueprints for the structural renovations of West Lecture Hall. In addition, candidates running for election to fill PTA positions for next academic year gave their speeches, which were followed by the elections. In early May, as part of Keystone’s Experiential Learning Program, Grade 5 students traveled to Foshan in Guangdong, where they explored the rich cultural heritage of the province. The students visited museums and temples, attended a Canton opera performance, and also learned about important cultural dances and Guangdong’s rich wushu traditions. The students also supported the work of wildlife bird preservation organizations. 

May 26 was a fun filled day for the entire Keystone community! Water slides, climbing walls, foam canons, and bowling pins filled the field during our annual community fair. A variety of food and handcrafted goods were on sale, and numerous musical performances by students, faculty, and guest band “Solid Gold” enchanted the crowds into the evening. Roundabout charity was also in attendance, providing designated drop-off points for gently used clothes, books, and toys. Thank you all for your help with and presence at this event! On May 29, as part of Keystone’s Cultural Exploration program, Grade 11 student Jasmin Zheng shared her personal writing journey and discussed her latest novel The Flamboyant. Zheng discussed her motivation behind authoring this story and shared her challenges in writing fiction. All proceeds from her book sale following the presentation were donated to the Roundabout charity program “1001 Bedtime Stories”. 

In the Time of the Butterflies, a historical novel written by Julia Alvarez, tells the story of four sisters living in the Dominican Republic during Rafael Trujillo’s rule. Known as Las Mariposas in their community, three of the sisters suddenly disappear. The mystery on the tiny island unfolds when the fourth sister surfaces to tell her side of the story. 

Join us on June 5 between 6:30pm and 8:30pm for Keystone's third edition of our “I Love Artists Series”: Eine Kleine Nachtmusik at Keystone - The Child Prodigy Who Changed the World. Pianist Wenbin Jin and Violinist Chen Xi will perform Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s most acclaimed compositions as student moderators and performers and special guest flutist Zheng Bile guide the audience through the mysterious yet enchanting world of this prolific 18th century composer. Tickets cost 200RMB for ground floor seats, and 100 RMB for second floor seats. All proceeds will be donated to the Wings of Music charity and organizations advancing teacher training and education for children with autism in China. We look forward to spending this evening with you!

The MAP scores of Grades 6-10 students will be posted to their Managebac portfolios in the next week. The reports show students’ most recent scores in reading, math, and language, and also allow parents to see the progress students have made in these test areas since entering Keystone. We invite parents on Thursday, June 7th, from 10-11:00 am in the West Lecture Hall to learn more about how to read a report as well as the role of standardized testing at the school. Everyone is welcome to this bilingual information session.

If you wish to purchase photos, please bring your completed photo order form to the Primary or Secondary School reception along with your payment (cash or WeChat) from June 6 through June 8 between the hours of 8:00am and 4:30pm. You will receive your photo orders within 2 weeks following payment.
