As the forefront of China's reform and opening-up, Shanghai has always attached great importance to the utilization of foreign investment. This year, under the significant influence of the spread of COVID-19, Shanghai came up with many preferential policies for foreign investment and has been achieved positive results in boosting their confidence in the Chinese market, foreign investment work has continued to improve from "quantity" to "quality". Nearly 60,000 foreign-funded enterprises in Shanghai now contribute more than a quarter of the city's gross domestic product (GDP), over a third of its tax revenue, about two-thirds of its foreign trade volume, one-fifth of number of employment and about fifty percent of research and development (R&D) investment of Industrial Enterprises above Designated Size. In the first three quarters of 2020, the city's foreign capital inflows rose 6.1 percent year on year to about 15.52 billion U.S. dollars, meantime, a total of 758 regional headquarters of foreign-funded multinational companies (including 132 Asia Pacific headquarters) and 475 foreign-funded R&D centers were established in Shanghai.


"Assist German Enterprises To Invest Into Shanghai In Post Pandemic Era" online event would be held in the morning of November 11th, the event would introduce Shanghai's plan under the background of the "14th Five Plan" as well as the 3rd CIIE, for example, Shanghai's major initiatives for further strengthening "Four Functions", building a strategic link of domestic and international dual circulation, enlarging the spillover effect of CIIE. This event's them would also concentrate on two-way investment between Shanghai and Germany, introducing the current situation and development trend of Sino German economic and trade cooperation, investment in Shanghai and Germany, and offering a professional interpretation of the economic and trade relations and influence among Germany, EU and China. The seminar mainly composes of four parts: theme promotion, expert interpretation, enterprise sharing and CIIE sharing. For enterprise sharing section, representatives from German companies, who have been working in Shanghai for years or intended to invest in Shanghai, will be invited to introduce cooperation opportunities or speak for Shanghai as witnesses.
