We cordially invite you to attend the EU's Geographical Indications Conference followed by a cocktail tasting experience to celebrate the Entry into Force of the EU-CN GI agreement.
The EU and China signed a bilateral agreement on 14 September, 2020 that entered into force on 1 March, 2021 to protect a first selection of European Geographical Indications (GIs) in China and Chinese GIs in the European Union against usurpation and imitation. This agreement is expected to result in reciprocal trade benefits and increased consumers' awareness and demand for high-quality products on both sides. It reflects the willingness of the EU and China to deliver on their commitment and to adhere to international rules as a basis for trade relations.
Raising awareness about geographical indications is an important objective for the European Union's Colours by Europe communication campaign in China.
This conference will provide an overview of the benefits from both the Chinese and EU perspectives and an insight in the EU GI system, followed by 3 GIs success cases from EU member states and a Q&A session.
All attendees will be invited to enjoy an exclusive cocktail tasting experience featuring key EU ingredients from a selection of geographical indications.
