[Legal & Tax] Customs and Trade Outlook under COVID-19
Wednesday, 21 April 2021
9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
In 2020, with the COVID-19 pandemic, international trade disputes have increased due to rising trade protectionism around the world, weighing into the already suffering global economy. With the backdrop of the ongoing tension between the US and China, Chinese enterprises are facing a changing and complex international trade environment. On the bright side, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) has now officially been signed after 8 years and 31 rounds of negotiations. The China-EU Comprehensive Agreement on Investment also accomplished on schedule at the end of 2020. These have injected new impetus into multilateral trade cooperation, and established confidence for the recovery of the global economy and for the maintenance of an open trade and investment environment.
In order to coordinate with COVID-19 prevention efforts and socioeconomic development enhancement, the Chinese government is committed to promoting high-quality trade development. This includes the establishment of the Yangshan Special Comprehensive Bonded Zone and Hainan Free Trade Port, and new exploration of customs valuation practices in 2021. The use of voluntary disclosure in custom audits has also provided more benefits for companies.
The workshop will primarily focus on the following topics:
Customs Valuation
Trend of Customs Audit
