Shiro Armstrong is the Director of the Australia-Japan Research Centre, Editor of the East Asia Forum, Director of the East Asian Bureau of Economic Research and Research Associate at the Center on Japanese Economy and Business at the Columbia Business School.
Shiro is a Visiting Scholar at the Research Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry (RIETI) and in a Visiting Associate Professor at Keio University. He is recipient of the Vice-Chancellor’s Staff Excellence Award for Public Policy and Outreach and twice the Vice Chancellor’s Award for Innovation and Excellence in Service Quality.

Head of Trade & Customs, Asia Pacific at KPMG
Leonie has approximately 30 years’ experience in international trade advisory roles, including customs, excise, logistics and project management. Leonie has provided extensive advice on international trade, free trade agreements, customs and excise duty management and duty saving methodologies to a wide range of government agencies, industries and clients. Prior to joining KPMG, Leonie was the operations and project manager for a medium sized customs brokerage and freight forwarder.

Thomson
Counsellor (Economic) at Australian Embassy Beijing
Kevin commenced as Economic Counsellor at the Australian Embassy in Beijing in September 2019, managing trade and economic reporting for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).
Kevin’s previous work at DFAT included as a Director on the 2017 Foreign Policy White Paper Taskforce, and as a negotiator for Australia’s FTA negotiations with China, Korea, Chile and the Gulf Cooperation Council. He was previously posted as First Secretary (Trade and Economic) to Australia’s Embassy in Tokyo, and was seconded for a year to the international division of the Australian Treasury.
Kevin has a Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia, and a Graduate Diploma in Economics from the Australian National University.
