What can we learn from the writings of China's "establishment intellectuals"?
Our next speaker, David Ownby, is professor of history at the University of Montreal and director of Reading The China Dream, a website project devoted to contemporary intellectual life in China.
Ownby will share his observations from tracking the elite academics, writers, journalists and artists who work within the shifting bounds of China's public sphere. Their thoughts and debates are an important source of insight on how a rising power views itself and the world.
