The outcome of the Australian Federal Election holds not only great importance for Australia but also for those countries, like China, that Australia has relations with. Elections inherently cause change and as a result, dynamic pragmatism is needed to understand the way to navigate the post-election climate.
AustCham China is excited to facilitate a post-election discussion where Nick Coylewill moderate a discussion between experienced and insightful panelists - Rowan Callick and Alistair Nicholas. They will discuss the implications of the election outcome and what this might mean for the future.
Based in Sydney, Alistair Nicholas is an internationally experienced government, public and corporate affairs consultant who has advised multinational corporations, NGOs, and foreign government agencies on a range of complex and sensitive issues in Australia, North America, China and the South Pacific.
Alistair was based in Beijing, China for 13 years until 2013. Since returning to Australia he has continued to assist foreign organisations in relation to China issues, and Chinese organisations operating in Australia.
Alistair's current consultancy work includes government relations, reputation management, stakeholder engagement, public relations, media relations, and issues and crisis management. He also advises foreign companies on their trade and investment strategies in Australia, and Australian companies on their international trade and investment strategies.
Alistair's early career included policy research and journalism, international trade policy adviser to the Australian Government, and diplomacy including as Australia's Trade Commissioner to the World Bank and United Nations.
