Eight survivors of domestic and family violence share empowering reflections of their experiences living in violent, abusive and controlling relationships.

You Can't Ask That is an Australian TV series created by ABC Television that first went to air in August 2016. As of June 2022 its seventh season is on air in Australia. The show aims to offer insight into the lives of marginalised communities and break down stereotypes while answering the questions people are afraid to ask, reportedly inspired by Ask Me Anything (AMA) threads on Reddit. Each episode asks controversial questions sourced from the public to a minority Australian population. You Can't Ask That won the 2022 AACTA Award for Best Direction in Nonfiction Television.

Domestic violence is present across all genders, sexual orientations, cultures, ages, socio-economic backgrounds, ethnicities and religions.  Not always recognizable, it is a pattern of violent and/or abusive behaviors by a present or former intimate partner. Experiences of domestic abuse can involve serious and long-lasting injury and consequences for individuals and families and many still suffer in silence.

Help us to help others break the silence of domestic violence and to begin to recognize and validate experiences which can be physical, mental, emotional, or sexual abuse. By joining us on November 23rd to come together for the viewing of a poignant Australian documentary episode, provided by the Australian Consulate, and to hear the shared views of our panelist speakers, you will be supporting Inward Subsidized Counseling at CCS for survivors of domestic violence in our community.
