Event Background & Introduction:
The "Made in China 2025" strategy aims to strengthen China's innovation capacity in certain key industries, transform China into a high-tech manufacturing powerhouse, and reduce dependencies on foreign technologies.
An important milestone on this path is the Draft Notice on Domestic Product Standards in Public Procurement and Implementation Measures from December 5, 2024, aiming to clarify which products shall be considered as "Made in China".
According to the Draft, a price reduction of 20% is to be granted for products in public procurement procedures that meet the "Made in China" criteria.
If the Draft will be implemented in its current wording, it will directly affect companies selling products to government bodies and organizations in public tenders. It may also affect such companies' suppliers and companies selling their products in non-public tenders.
Affected companies may need to change and localize their production in China to meet the "Made in China" criteria to be able to compete with the 20% cheaper "Made in China" products.
In the CEO Breakfast, we will elaborate on the requirements of the Draft.
