Betrayal in an intimate partner relationship may take the form of infidelity, though other types of betrayal, such as financial betrayal, unexpected loss or change can also provoke a trauma response. The discovery of infidelity or an expected outcome may lead to feelings and thoughts like loss of self-esteem and self-worth, numbnesss, anger, guilt, suspicion and hypervigilance, physical symptoms, including insomnia, pain, and stomach distress, and retraumatization from past experiences and/or childhood
In this workshop we will cover content related to:
- understanding your emotions around your experience of betrayal
- processing changes in how you view the relationship
- dealing with shifts in your self-concept
- skills to stop/reduce the cycle of rumination
how to increase your confidence & self-efficacy
When you or someone you love and trust does something to shatter the foundations of your relationship, the resulting trauma can be severe.
