Throughout 2019, the Beijing Women's Network raised money for Bethel China. Their mission is to provide high-quality care, education, life skills and livelihood opportunities to blind and visually impaired orphans in China. Bethel provides educational opportunities to blind children from poor families and within orphanages. They teach life skills, vocational skills and provide early intervention so that the children will be able to lead independent and full lives.
For this Spotlight dinner, we will celebrate the Beijing Women Network's generosity by presenting the money that has been collected for Bethel and hearing from their executive director Susan Qu on the powerful ways that their organization changes lives.
Susan will tell us about her personal journey from working as a teacher within the organization to becoming the organization's director. She has managed a transition from an organization with all foreign funding to being managed by and funded by Chinese. She will share her personal insights that have been gained through working on the difficulties orphans and children and with special needs face, her own struggles raising two children, while managing the needs of an organization.
