Director of Sciences Po

Frédéric Mion was appointed President of Sciences Po by President Hollande in March 2013.
He graduated from Sciences Po, Princeton, Ecole Normale Superieure and Ecole Nationale d’Administration.
A member of the French Conseil d’Etat, Mion became Head of the Administrative Division of Sciences Po in 1996. In 1998, he was appointed Spokesman of the Jacques Attali Committee, tasked with laying the path for the standardization of higher education in Europe. He worked as an Advisor to the Minister of Education Jack Lang (2000-2001), and as Deputy Director of the French Directorate General of Administration and Civil Service (2001-2003). In 2003, he joined Allen & Overy where he became an partner in 2005. In 2007, he was appointed Secretary General of the prominent French media group Canal+.

Frédéric Mion a été élu par les conseils de Sciences Po le 1er mars 2013. Sa nomination a été publiée au Journal officiel du 29 mars 2013. Membre du Conseil d’État, Frédéric Mion est diplômé de l’Institut d’études politiques (IEP) de Paris, de l’Université de Princeton (États-Unis), de l’École normale supérieure (Paris) et de l’École Nationale de l’Administration (promotion Victor Schoelcher 1994-1996).
Frédéric Mion a commencé sa carrière comme Auditeur (1996-1999) puis Maître des requêtes au Conseil d’État (1999-2000). En 2000, il a rejoint le cabinet de Jack Lang (ministre de l’Éducation nationale) en tant que conseiller. Directeur, Adjoint au directeur général de l’administration et de la fonction publique de 2000 à 2003, Frédéric Mion a exercé en tant qu’avocat of Counsel (2003-2005) puis avocat associé au cabinet Allen & Overy LLP (2005-2007) avant de rejoindre le Groupe CANAL+ en tant que Secrétaire général – fonction qu’il a occupée jusqu’à sa nomination à Sciences Po en 2013.
