VDMA China Experience Exchange (ERFA) - Part III: Cross Border Data Transfer

Together with the VDMA Competence Centre Industrial Security we are conducting a series of events this year around the topic of digital infrastructure in China. The focus will be on mechanical engineering as a user of the infrastructures. The event series started on May 26 with the topic Cloud Applications in China, followed by the topic Data Exchange Architectures on June 23.

Cross Border Data Transfer – Recent Developments in China



Overall, the new data regulations pose far-reaching new requirements for network operators. As a result, these changes represent a drastic tightening of the previous drafts for companies. This applies in particular to the introduction of new, compulsory official procedures for the collection and transfer of data. The regulations stipulate the circumstances under which the cybersecurity authority can prohibit data transfers. The following topics will be introduced during the meeting:

• Who is network operator?

• What is cross border data transfer?

• Transfer of personal data and important data

• Sensitive information structure and Security obligations

• Legal Requirements for the network security

• Recent legal changes and their effects

Please note, that this event is considered an Experience Exchange. This mean we will have a kick-off presentation at the beginning of each meeting followed by a tour de table where participants are asked to share their related experiences and questions with us.
