Recruiting a Media & Communications Intern for the University of Sydney Centre in China
The University of Sydney Centre in China is pleased to announce for the first time, they will be recruiting a Media & Communications intern during the summer break at the end of 2019 for their China Industry Internship Program (CIIP) based in Suzhou. The Intern will gain hands-on experience within the role under guidance and support from the Centre's Media & Communication Manager, including being inducted by the University of Sydney Centre's Media & Communications team and to visit the Centre's Public Relations service providers in China.
As this intern position is open to non-Chinese national students, the successful intern will be required to go through the formal internship visa process to obtain the relevant Visa for China. This is a new policy and the Centre in China will help to support with guidance
Internship Details:
Position: Media & Communications Intern
Credit Point: None
Intern Duration: 6-8 weeks in the period from Dec 2019 to Feb 2020 (timing will commence with outcome of the internship visa approval)
Location: Suzhou, China
General duties
· Assisting in drafting documents, including flyers, pamphlets, posters, invitations, agendas, and publications across various media platforms
· Assisting in overseeing the Centre's contact database, including maintaining, updating, and importing new contacts
· Recording events using photography and audio-video, plus archiving the materials
· Attending events and drafting post-event materials, such as press releases and announcements across various media platforms
· Assisting in developing marketing proposals, developing innovative content, operating of social media platforms (WeChat, Weibo, Website etc.)
General requirements
· Majoring in media and communication or have relevant background, ie: Marketing
· A positive attitude, strong attention to detail, and a strong sense of responsibility
· Great interpersonal skills and adept at actualizing strategic planning
· Superior writing skills, sound computer literacy and working knowledge of graphic design, web design, and social media
Student Eligibility
· Students must currently be enrolled in an undergraduate/postgraduate program at the University of Sydney
· Students should be 3rd year undergraduate or above, ideally have met 72 credit points and above
· Students must have an overall Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 65 or greater
· Successful recruitment of this intern will be subject to the approval of the internship visa by relevant Chinese government agencies
Finance
Three Fees are payable:
1. Program Fee: the standard program fee is expected to be RMB10,000 (about $AUD2,100). The program fee will be waived for this intern position
2. Visa Processing Fee: this is expected to be about RMB1,200 (about $AUD250).
3. Accommodation Cost: this is expected to be RMB7,500 (about $AUD1,550) for 3-month
Scholarship/grant:
The successful Student will be provided with a scholarship to cover accommodation and workday lunch costs. A separate application for the scholarship is not required
Internship stipend:
The successful Student will receive a stipend of between RMB 2000 - RMB4000 ($AUD420 - $AUD840) per month
Useful Information
Travel:
Students are responsible for their own travel to and from China and while in-country.
Students are strongly advised NOT to make travel arrangements until you have received notification from the University of Sydney Centre in China.
Visas:
The University of Sydney Centre in China will help students to obtain the required visa. Students shall be responsible for the visa costs and be fully cooperative in providing necessary information and documents to obtain the visa.
Travel Insurance:
Students shall be responsible for their own insurance for flight to and from China and over the internship period in China.
Application Dates:
Applications will be open from 8:00am (Beijing time, being 11:00am Sydney time) on Tuesday 12 November 2019 and close at 18:00pm (Beijing time, being 21:00pm Sydney time) on Sunday 17 November 2019.
